The Ranger is a hat which comprises proportions in the extreme. It has a deceivingly high crown of seven inches which has been creased with a very deep top-dent giving the overall effect of a medium-height telescope crown while still maintaining an imposing silhouette. It has a very wide brim of four inches with a subtle pencil curl. This hat underwent different stiffening treatment on the brim and crown so that the crown remains soft and pliable while the brim has a flexible rigidity which enables it to remain relatively flat with a natural down turn at the front and back under its own weight. It is trimmed with a band of Devon Ruby hide and features a pewter side buckle with a plume of rooster feathers. It is fully lined with leather sweatband and satin liner.
