The Peasant King features a distressed/aged hat body of finest-quality light-green felt. It was formed on an extremely tall 8 inch sugarloaf block, was then roughly shaped into a fedora-inspired asymmetrical crease with further weathering, ageing and markings applied in sympathy with the shape of the hat. The whole process of shaping, forming and treating the felt took more than 20 hours using a range of natural vegetable dyes and other natural extracts to make the various stains and marks that give the hat it’s unique character. Matching platted rope band fitted with oak leaves carve from horn tied-off with a wooden bead. A primitive, folk-art pewter flower motif and dyed rooster feather plume completes the piece. Unlined with white leather sweatband.
