I named this hat Demob more on the basis of material quality than style; though it is certainly a typical English snap brim with raw edge like many post-war period hats. This is the only wool felt hat I have made, since this is usually considered an inferior material for professional hat making. I found this wool capeline of such high quality, I was intrigued to block it and I was pleasantly surprised by the result - it would be hard to distinguish between this hat and other high-quality felt hats. It has a high open crown formed with a centre crease and front pinch of shallow side dents and a contrasting two-inch brown grosgrain ribbon with a “Battersby Twist” bow detail. Fully lined with leather sweatband.
