Phantom is an example of a hat almost entirely conceived in my imagination before setting about its execution. In that sense, this hat expresses my vision for a Phantom style hat; it takes Bela Lagosi’s distinct style and mixes it with influences of late 1960s bohemian Capeline hats. This hat features an extremely high open crown of 7” which has been styled with an asymmetrical centre-dent similar to that seen on the Herbert Johnson poet and as worn by Tom Baker's Doctor Who. This hat evokes the late 1960s rockstar image with its midnight-blue body, contrasting purple grosgrain ribbon band and extremely proportioned plume of beautifully dyed feathers with silver-clasp amulet. I can almost see Brian Jones or Ritchie Blackmore adorning this hat. It has certainly an air of the mystical and would definitely not look out of place on the head of a wizard or shaman. Fully lined with leather sweatband.
