Hinckley is a Setstyle hat using one of my few, fully-formed crown blocks. A Setstyle crown ensures a fully symmetrical shape as the felt assumes the profile of the hat block; in this case, a C-crown with an exaggerated reverse-taper and distinctive tugboat shape. It features a large-scale houndstooth pattern woven band and has a “fly fishing” style feather- mount. It has perforated side-vents in-keeping with the Setstyle tradition and has a tight bound brim which causes an extreme pull down at the front an upturn at the back more commonly seen on American hats of the 1940s and early/mid 1950s. This hat is made from a beautiful dark grey felt which has a subtle blue-ish hue when compared to other grey hats. I would consider this hat suitable for an English cad or bounder; it really evokes the style worn by the likes of George Cole, Leslie Phillips, Terry-Thomas and Syd James during that period. Unlined with leather sweatband.
