About this hat

Bowker was an unusual commission which I agreed to undertake. The client for this hat described something that was a cross between a bowler hat and top hat - such a hat exists and is commonly referred to as either the Cambridge Bowler or more colloquially as the “Bowker”. It is most notably associated with Winston Churchill who favoured the style. I created the hat block for this hat especially for this commission and afterwards repurposed it to make another block ensuring that this hat is a complete one-off unable to be replicated. Perhaps the most unusual request from the client was to make the hat in blue felt; I had the idea to use a contrasting brown brim binding and band. This hat is fully lined with a leather sweatband.
