An exciting twist on a classic1930s snap-brim with extra-high crown. This hat was formed on a 7-inch-tall crown block that is exclusive to my company. it has a raw-edge brim trimmed to 2 1/2 inches. The dark brown ribbon which is 3 inches wide comes from new-old-stock, believed to date from the 1920s or 30s; it is certainly a very fine quality grosgrain unlike anything that can be bought new today. The extra width has permitted a pleated side detail with black moire grosgrain accent. The body of the hat itself is also formed from a new-old-stock felt cone, dating from the mid-20th century which I obtained from a well-known supplier of hat making materials. This is an extremely high-quality dense yet lightweight felt typically only found in vintage hats. The soft crown will easily comply to any shape the wearer desires while the naturally pliable felt will conform to the wearer's head. This hat is fully lined with a satin liner and leather sweatband.
